Depart early morning from Marrakech (around 7:30 AM) and head towards the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi-n-Tichka Pass. Stop at an Argan oil cooperative for a short visit. Continue to Ait Ben Haddou; enjoy a guided tour of this famous Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and a backdrop for many renowned films. After lunch, travel through the Draa Valley, with its stunning palm groves and fortified Kasbahs. Stop for panoramic views and photo opportunities. Arrive in Zagora in the late afternoon, and embark on a camel trek to the Nkhila Dunes. Watch the sunset over the dunes, followed by a traditional Berber dinner and live music around a campfire. Overnight in a comfortable Berber tent in the desert camp.
Wake up early to witness the sunrise over the desert dunes. After breakfast, enjoy a camel ride back to Zagora. Return journey to Marrakech through the Draa Valley and Ouarzazate, with stops for refreshments and photos. Arrive back in Marrakech in the late afternoon, with a transfer to your hotel or riad.
The best times are during spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) when the weather is milder. Summers can be hot, and winter nights can be cold in the desert.
