Embark on an unforgettable 4-day journey from Marrakech into the heart of the Moroccan Sahara. This tour offers a perfect blend of scenic mountain passes, ancient Kasbahs, and the captivating beauty of the desert. Explore Berber villages, trek through the towering dunes of Erg Chebbi on camelback, and spend a night under the stars in a traditional Bedouin camp. Experience the culture, history, and natural beauty of Morocco as you travel through diverse landscapes, from the High Atlas Mountains to the vast Sahara Desert.
Begin your 4-day adventure with a morning departure from your hotel or riad in Marrakech. Travel through the High Atlas Mountains, crossing the Tizi n’Tichka pass, the highest road pass in Morocco, offering stunning views of valleys and Berber villages. Continue to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait Ben Haddou, a fortified village famous for its clay architecture and role in numerous films. After lunch in Ait Ben Haddou or Ouarzazate, journey through the Dades Valley, where you'll spend the night in a riad or hotel in Dades Gorges, enjoying dinner and the spectacular views.
After breakfast, depart Dades Gorges and head towards the Erg Chebbi Sahara Desert in Merzouga. Pass through several Berber villages, including Tinjdad, Jorf, and Erfoud, where you'll begin to feel the Saharan atmosphere. Upon arrival in Merzouga, take a short rest before embarking on a camel trek into the dunes. Witness a breathtaking sunset and spend the night in a nomadic Berber camp, enjoying traditional music, dinner, and a night under the desert stars.
Wake up early to catch the sunrise over the dunes, then return to Merzouga by camel. After breakfast and a shower at a local hotel, begin your journey back towards Ouarzazate, passing through Berber villages such as Alnif, Tazarine, and Agdz. Travel along the scenic Draa Valley before arriving in Ouarzazate in the evening, where you'll spend the night.
On your final day, depart Ouarzazate after breakfast and visit the famous film studios before crossing the High Atlas Mountains once more. Enjoy the stunning landscapes as you make your way back to Marrakech, where you'll be dropped off at your accommodation in the evening.
